| Welcome to Ketlyns. We are a small breeder that only produces a couple litters a year. We offer puppies occasionaly and will consider stud service to approved females with proof of negative VC and BC. We have been involved with German Shepherds since 1990 starting with owning a gorgeous pet and then visiting our first dog show. We do show our dogs occasionaly in the AKC conformation ring. Showing in the AKC conformation ring can be expensive due to the fact that you must have a known professional handler on your dog. Professional handlers can be expensive. Between the entry fee and the expense fee for the handler and their fees it makes it hard for some of us to show in the AKC ring. The political aspect of the AKC conformation ring makes it even harder for a new person to the conformation ring that wants to show as a owner/handler very tough. We have decided to register our dogs with the UKC as well as the AKC. We have decided to do this because we want to handle our own dogs in the conformation ring and enjoy the shows without the financial burdon of the AKC Conformation ring. UKC Confirmation Ring you must be owner handler of the dog and it is dedicated to family enjoyment of the shows. We will still show in the AKC conformation ring as finances will permit. |
| We want our dogs to be of sound temperment with the desire to please and show companionship. We want an animal that is pleasing to the eye as well as intelligent. We feel our foundation bitches, Detmer's Willow and Guardian Kenels Ruby Red, have given us the best opportunity to carry on these traits we so desire. It has taken us several years to learn through trial and error the rearing of puppies and raising dogs. Breeding is not to be entered into lightly. Breeding is a huge responsibility that don't end when the puppy leaves for its new home. With breeding comes a great responsibility to those puppies produced by the breeder. We spend countless hours with our puppies. We feel this is very important for a proper start in life. The time invested in our puppies are a big enjoyment to us. We socialize them and teach them proper manners and start introducing them to basic obedience. We NEVER want one of our puppies to end up in the animal shelters, or breed rescues and want the new owners to understand that the puppy is to be cared for and loved. We know through our own experiences in life that things sometimes happen and a family must move their beloved pet to a new home.. We do not hold that against them. We do however expect that we be contacted to have the opportunity to bring our puppies back home to stay until we ourselves find them a new home. This assures us that the puppy we have produced is in good homes and we are aware of their where abouts through their lives. We offer puppies up for show/competitor or pet homes. Puppies put into pet homes are placed into pet homes with NO breeding rights. This means they are placed on limited registration still AKC registered and able to compete in all events of the AKC except Conformation. We can change this if the new owner decides he wants to compete his/her dog in Confirmation, obedience, agility, herding, or any other field that would earn the dog a title degree. In order to remove the limited registration the dog will have earned a title in obedience, tracking, herding, etc.. The owner will then pay the fee for removing the limited registration to AKC. Puppies sold for show or competition are given full registration and able to breed their dog, these puppies are sold for a much higher price than the pet registered puppy. Full registration means that the dog can be shown in all AKC events including Conformation and offspring from such animal can be registered with the AKC. We only sale dogs registered on full registration to other breeders that are competing dogs for a title. We do not just sale dogs for breeding purposes to anyone that does not show or compete. |
